Herding
The American Herding Breed Association (AHBA), founded in 1986, runs a herding program that rewards meeting a standard over beating a field: numerical qualifying scores, titles at three levels, earned separately on each course type and each kind of stock. Trials and the Junior Herding Dog test are open to all dogs 9 months and older, mixes included. The Herding Capability Test is limited to herding breeds and listed multipurpose breeds, 6 months and older. Owners don't have to belong to any club, and unregistered dogs enter on an AHBA Tracking Number. Stock runs from sheep and goats to ducks, geese, turkeys, and cattle.
