Nose Work / Scent Work
United States Canine Scent Sports (USCSS) was founded by scent-work competitors Julie Sandoval and Daneen Fox to add more trials and more fun to the sport, and it now runs trials across the US and, as Canine Scent Sports International, in France. It uses NACSW's three odors on a ladder — birch at Novice, anise added at Intermediate, clove at Advanced — across the four classic elements (interior, exterior, vehicle, container). Alongside the elements it runs games: Team Spirit (four teams share four hides), Heap O' Hides (up to 10 hides in one area), Go The Distance (the dog searches away from the handler), LudicrouSpeed, and a Scenting Sweepstakes where the top finishers split part of the entry pot.
