Sled Dog Racing

The International Sled Dog Racing Association (ISDRA) is the largest sled-dog-racing-specific sanctioning body in North America. ISDRA writes race rules for sprint, mid-distance, skijor, and dryland; sanctions individual races; maintains season points standings; and supplies the rulebook most US clubs adopt for their own events. Handlers who race US sprint or mid-distance classes work inside the ISDRA framework whether or not they show up to its season-end medals.

Skijoring

ISDRA is the North American sanctioning body that hosts most US skijor classes. ISDRA-sanctioned race weekends are typically multi-class events — mid-distance and sprint sled-dog teams plus skijor — run on snowmobile-packed trails or Nordic-center venues. Skijor classes appear at most ISDRA-sanctioned race weekends in snow-reliable regions, embedded in the broader sled-dog program rather than as standalone events.

Urban Mushing

The International Sled Dog Racing Association governs both snow and dryland mushing in the US and is the organization most American racers encounter first. ISDRA writes the rules, sanctions races across the continent, and sets the conduct and welfare standards regional clubs follow. It awards no titles, but it does run a national Championship Points Program: members earn points per class, and each driver's four best races set their ISDRA standing and seeding. Open to any dog regardless of breed or registration; mixed breeds and unregistered dogs race the same classes as registered northern breeds.
