Nose Work / Scent Work
Performance Scent Dogs (PSD) is a small registry founded around 2014 in Massachusetts, built for pet owners who never thought they'd try a dog sport as much as for experienced handlers. It uses birch, anise and clove, and its five classes include two that test something extra: Distance, where the handler stays behind a line and sends the dog to search on its own, and Speed, three sets of boxes against a 45-second clock. Dogs can stay in a class after titling, or step back down a level, and keep competing in the Metallic division. Trials are few right now and mostly in New Hampshire.
